Wednesday Weigh-In #4

Weight Loss Report
This Week: +1
Total: -3.5

Well, I said one or two bad words when I stepped on the scale this morning. BUT, in honor of our recent holiday for Martin Luther King, Jr. - "I have a dream." And I do - I have a dream that I will run on that treadmill and not grow weary, and that someday my pants will fall off of me in public because I'm so dang skinny. No, I'm not giving up - I can't! I've got a dream.

Okay - all inspiration aside - I'm hacked. I think it was a couple too many chips and my taco salad last night - thanks, Rachel W. - it's all your fault. Whose idea was it to eat Mexican food the night before my weigh-in?!

Maybe you'll see less of me next - maybe you'll see more. Who knows!

Book & Beverage Review

I just finished a book by Stephen Arterburn called "The Secrets Men Keep." I highly recommend this to anyone - single, married, divorce, male, female, teen.

Stephen speaks the truth about men - their feelings, thought processes, weird habits and he also confirms some of those mysteries that we won't have the answer to until Jesus fills us in when we get to Heaven.

The book is broken down into five "secret" sections:
1. Secrets about finances, fame and family
2. Secrets about feelings
3. Secrets about spirituality
4. Secrets about relationships with women
5. secrets about sexuality

It's a must read.

Secondly, I just finished a drink to top all drinks. . .Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper. This is the newest flavor in the DP family and I give it 10 bubbly stars! I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority of people who love flavored drinks.

In fact, I've had several conversations with people who think I'm disgusting for craving Diet Cherry Pepsi and Vanilla Coke Zero (people can be so overtly opinionated). But, I will drink on - because I love these beverages - especially because they can often substitute for a sweet treat when a craving attacks.

Wednesday Weigh-In #3

Weight Loss Report
This Week: -2
Total: -4.5

Guess what?! I stepped on the scale this morning to discover I had lost two more pounds! I was really rather shocked because we went to the Stockshow & Rodeo Monday night and I allowed myself what was supposed to be a "little" splurge. Well, I ended up consuming the following: jumbo corn dog, 1/2 order of french fries, 1/2 cotton candy, several peanuts, a few handfuls of buttery popcorn - oh, and I almost forgot, the most to DIE for caramel apple.

So, you can see my surprise when the scale was actually down and not up this morning. I'm back on track. Below is a picture of us kickin' up our boots at the rodeo. I actually look fatter than a male bull in the picture - I'm hoping the scale is not lying to me!

You'll see less of me next week!

My Celebrity Encounters. . .

You know how there are some people who have met a ton of celebrities? Usually these people are loaded, or they're in the right place at the right time, or they have a particular job that positions them to meet people in the spotlight.

Well, I fit none of these categories of people. However, I have met a few VIPs in my 28 years. My list is short, and it actually makes me laugh out loud - because I need to get to work if I'm going to beef up my celebrity encounters before I die.

Just to make myself feel better, one photo is missing from the list - I met Miss Texas 2006 last year and I look GINORMOUS standing next to her. I'll have to dig that one up - assuming I didn't rip it to shreds; very bad for the self-esteem.

Country Musician Vince Gill - I think I was 16 - one word: YIKES!

Kidd Kraddick, 106.1 Kiss FM DJs - I met everyone except for Kidd Kraddick himself. I loved this day, because Kellie, Big Al and Rich all acted just as I thought they would. Kellie was sort of cold-shouldered and acted pretty much like a "B." Big Al called me "baby" and tried to flirt and Rich was absolutely genuine and precious.

Former Dallas Cowboy Daryl Johnston - Josh pulled this one off. He also got to meet Governor Rick Perry, but no picture. That same night, he laid his eyes on President Bush & First Lady Laura exiting Air Force One. That trumps all of my celebrity encounters put together!

Wednesday Weigh-In #2

Weight Loss Report
This Week: -1.5
Total: -2.5

Sorry for the delay, Wednesdays are kind of crazy - but it's the catchiest day of the week. "Thursday Weigh-Ins" wouldn't be nearly as fun.

So I'm down 1.5 pounds. Again, not overly impressive - but if I keep this up I will have met my goal at least by summer. I got in five whole days of exercise this last week, which makes me feel really proud of myself. I've actually been getting up in the MORNINGS, which is only by the grace of God. I do feel so alert and accomplished when I work out in the mornings, so I'm literally praying God will help me get my big ole' bootie out of bed each morning.

On a food note, my intake has still been significantly reduced. However, I attended several functions over the last week, and was able to partake in the food (which one occasion had the most to-die-for chocolate cake). I was able to control my portions, and still be able to just slightly indulge. That's so much better for me than total denial - because total denial just means I'll be really good for two weeks and then go buck wild for an entire day. Not a good pattern.

That's all I have to say right now. You'll see LESS of me next week!

Peace.

2007: A Year Review In Pictures

January 2007: The sight of snow from our front door.

February 2007
: No pictures. How sad to not have documented the month of Cupid's love! I'll definitely make up for this terrible oversight in '08.

March 2007: I went to Abilene to speak to AkO members at a spring retreat, and had a fabulous time. Also bought my first new car - a sassy hard-top convertible, which was kind of bratty, but I promised I would never ask for another new car again as long as I live! It was time to retire the '98 Honda I had been driving since I graduated high school. Other events included my second cousin's wedding; we had a memorable experience hanging out with our relatives at the reception - some normal, some not so much normal.

April 2007: Hosted a small group from Church at our house. Very interesting dymamic of people, but many laughs were shared.

May 2007: Our family hosted a celebration at Mexican Inn marking the one-year anniversary of my grandmother Lyn going to be with Jesus. Friends and family came and we shared our favorite memories of such a remarkable human being who blessed us with her life. I still can't believe she's gone.

June 2007: I surprised Josh with tickets to see The Police in concert. We were in the nose-bleed section, but had such a good time. They were awesome to see live. (This is his "surprised" face)

July 2007: We spent the fourth of July during the day in Southlake Town Square and watched a couple of different fireworks shows that night.

August 2007: Josh and I did a "Tour de Tejas" in August and had a blast. We drove to New Braunfels and went to Schlitterbahn and then drove to Galveston for a couple of days and met Jacquie, Spruce & Lynlee for a little visit.

September 2007: Football, football, football. The season was kicked off big time watching one of the most hyped up high school football games of all times take place at SMU's stadium. Here's "the girls" pictured below.

October 2007: The fall & winter are my favorite seasons. The celebrations begin with Josh's birthday, then Halloween, my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, etc. Thus the reason for needing to lose 20 pounds pronto. :) October was a great month. I visited my sister in Lubbock and went to ACU's Homecoming.

November 2007: Tis the season to be thankful. Below is a picture of my sister and me getting the Christmas season started off right in Dallas. We went to Sprinkles Cupcakes for the first time. VERY good and a dangerous place to visit (calorie wise).

December 2007: What a fun month - and so many pictures to choose from, but I went with one of my favorites from the cruise celebrating our fourth anniversary.

Thank you God for another year in this world you created. May we make you proud in 2008 with our words, our actions and our lives.

Wednesday Weigh-In #1

Weight Lost Report: 1 pound

Whoop-dee-doo! One pound. I'm not overly thrilled, but at least the scale went down and not up. I really think I can partially blame not losing more weight on my excessive need for salt lately. Can I blame it on water retention because of too much sodium?

I've definitely been eating less, but in turn, wanting to pour a ton of salt all over my food. Also, I only got to work out twice last week, which I'm hoping to increase this week. So stay tuned.

You'll see less of me next week! Peace out.

Weighing Wednesdays

I've decided to enter myself in my own version of The Biggest Loser. I need to lose the 20 pounds that I've put on during 2007, and I've discovered that I don't do well unless I have some sort of accountability, or at least some competition.

I have decided to declare each Wednesday "Weighing Wednesdays." Don't get too excited, because I'm not going to post my actual weight, that would cause you to fall out of your computer chair from utter shock, but I am going to post the amount of weight that I've lost each week.

Since college, I've had great success with the Weight Watchers program, and I know it well, so I don't want to have to rejoin and pay them money each week, just so I can make myself have some self control when it comes to food. So, I'm asking the blogger world to hold me accountable. Basically I will keep my exercise consistent and cutdown on the amount of food I intake. I'm not big on total deprival, so there might be a week or two where I only lose a tenth of a pound or just maintain, but it's better than gaining! I really want to stick with the postings, so make sure you comment if you don't see a posting each week.

As they say at Weight Watcher meetings. . ."You'll See Less Of Me Next Week!"

Oh, and if anyone wants to join me on this fat wagon, please feel free! Below is a picture of me today, sitting at my desk with my chubby cheeks. I can't wait to see the progress (you'll notice I will lose weight first in my face and then my boobs - isn't that a cryin' shame?!).
